How do I gain access to the Makerspace?

To gain access to the great equipment at the UTSC Library Makerspace, you first have to become a user. Complete the “UTSC Library Makerspace Orientation” interactive video below. You will receive an email from the Makerspace team confirming that you are now a Makerspace user.

Once you become a Makerspace user, you can book any of our equipment except the 3D printers or podcast equipment. See below for additional access information.

3D Printing

To access the 3D printers, you must additionally complete the “Introduction to 3D Printing” interactive video below. You will receive an email from the Makerspace team confirming that you now have access to the 3D printers.

Record a podcast

To access the podcast equipment, you must additionally complete the “Record a Podcast” interactive video below. You will receive an email from the Makerspace confirming that you now have access to the podcast equipment.

What equipment can I use from the Makerspace?

We have equipment that you could book to use in the space, including 3D printers, iMac computers with Adobe Creative Cloud, Cricut Maker, button maker, and sewing machine.

There is media equipment that can be borrowed outside of the Makerspace for 3 days, including digital cameras, tripods, lighting equipment, USB microphone, headphones, and more. See our Equipment page for a complete list.

New to the Makerspace, podcast equipment is now available to use in the One Button and Podcasting Studio (AC286), located in the new renovated space to the left of the library entrance.

Does the Makerspace offer workshops?

Yes! We have a workshop every week, highlighting digital technologies and equipment in the Makerspace. Check our events calendar to sign up for the next session.

Who can become a Makerspace user?

Any current UofT student, staff or faculty member can become a Makerspace user. Access to WeVideo is limited to UTSC users.

Where is the Makerspace?

The Makerspace is in AC256 in the UTSC Library.

We are open Monday to Thursday 10am to 5pm (closed 1-2pm).
