You Can Build a Robot! Workshop

The UTSC Library Makerspace is offering an exciting robot workshop. Learn about 3D printing, microcontrollers and coding by building your own dancing robot! Meet Eggbert! Textile Tuesday: Repair Cafe
|
|
|
The Makerspace team will demonstrate sewing techniques to do simple repairs on clothes as well as how to 3D printers to build replacements to fix broken or missing part. Register at CLNx.

This past week, Makerspace staff led a session in the Art of Being Mindful series in collaboration with the International Student Centre. Participants learned about stress-reduction through creativity while designing decorative panels with autumn themes. Future sessions are upcoming on November 9, 5-7p.m. and Nov 30, 5-7p.m. Email the Makerspace to register.

More than just building a robot

The Library’s Makerspace program "You Can Build a Robot!" is a wonderful informal learning opportunity for participants on many levels. Program participants will develop competencies in 3D printing, microcontrollers and programming basics within a supportive learning community. Another option to build a robot is to borrow Makerspace’s LEGO Mindstorms EV. The set includes pieces and instructions for building five LEGO Mindstorms robots with touch, color, and infrared sensors. The Intelligent EV3 brick allows you to command and control robots that walk, talk, think, and do anything you can imagine.

Introduction to Stop Motion (online)

Learn the basics for creating a Stop Motion video using Stop Motion Studio app and a mobile phone or tablet. At the end of the workshop, you will have knowledge of the tools, software and steps needed to make a basic Stop Motion video. The best way to participate in the session is to download the app on your phone or tablet, and follow the presentation on another device.

This introductory workshop will introduce you to the tools and resources related to podcasts. You will learn about best practices for creating a podcast, including choosing a format, comparing recording software and selecting the proper equipment needed to complete your digital project.

What Are You Making?
|

Show us what you’ve been making! Throughout the semester we would love to know what you are making for class or just for fun. Submit a photo and a short description of your creation (e.g. what you did, what equipment you used, etc.) If your resource is selected to be highlighted you will receive a Tim Horton’s gift card.
